Jeffrey Munroe on Godric

Our friend, Jeffrey Munroe, has recently published a book titled, Reading Buechner: exploring the work of a master memoirist, novelist, theologian, and preacher.

Here are some of Dr. Munroe’s thoughts on Godric:

‘Above all, though, the vocabulary was the major challenge. It seemed ancient, but the book had been published in 1980. Today, the unusual but rich use of words is among the things I treasure most about this book. You have to slow down and take a few deep breaths to read Godric. The book is not a poem, but it is written in poetic language, and poetry isn’t meant to be read in a hurry. This is a challenge in our world of Minute rice and instant messaging.’ (p.79-80)
