Dr Matthew Mullins is Associate Professor of English and History of Ideas in the college at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA.

He is the author of Postmodernism in Pieces (2016) and Enjoying the Bible (2021). His research and teaching focus on 20th and 21st century U.S. literature and culture, intellectual history, and theories of interpretation.

The writings of Frederick Buechner have helped him tear down walls separating art from faith in his academic pursuits as well as in his devotional life, especially through their resistance to the limitations placed on faith by our secular age. Buechner’s work creates space for people of any faith and no faith to ask vital questions about who they are and who God is in ways that artists and critics alike should imitate.
